International CPA

CPA is one of the best known international accounting designations and Irish educational qualifications are well respected worldwide. As the CPA qualification is based on international financial reporting and auditing standards, CPAs are well qualified to operate in any jurisdiction internationally.

CPAs currently work in 32 countries around the world in industry, commerce, finance, government, public practice and other areas where accounting and financial management are required. Some regulated areas of the profession (audit and investment for example) may be subject to national law and regulation.

Such is the global nature of the profession that it is not necessary to become a member of a local accounting body when working abroad, however information on local bodies around the world is available on the International Federation of Accountants website (IFAC). CPA is a founding member of IFAC and currently has a seat on the Board of IFAC.

CPA International Agreements

Australia

CPA Ireland has a mutual recognition agreement (MRA) with CPA Australia (Certified Practising Accountants Australia). The MRA offers both bodies the opportunity for key strategic partnerships and provides a route for qualified members of each body to become a member of the other body, and to enjoy the benefits which each organisation offers.

Canada

CPA Ireland and the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada (CGA-Canada) have a mutual recognition agreement (MRA) in place.  The MRA establishes a strategic partnership between the two leading accounting organisations and gives members the opportunity to qualify for a second designation.

New Zealand

CPA Ireland has been statutorily recognised as an approved body of auditors in New Zealand.

India
